Modeling Comp Cards

Professional Models should have a comp card for potential clients

In addition to a Portfolio, most working models have comp cards. These work as a models business card. Comp cards are used throughout the modeling industry, especially in high fashion and print modeling.
A comp card is typically a head shot, three or four shots from your portfolio, and in easy to read text - your name and basic stats; height, weight, age (optional), and your measurements. Compcards serve as a models best marketing tool. Models that are serious about modeling should try to get a professional comp card to ensure that they are noticed and booked for jobs.

Comp cards are typically printed on card stock so they aren't flimsy (you don't want your photos wrinkled or folded, your comp card should be treated as a large photo). Some agencies display their top models around the office for access to potential clients. The cards can also be emailed or mailed out to Photographers, Casting Directors, or anyone else in the industry who may be in need of a model or have requested your comp card.

The type of photos you put on your card should represent the type of work you do,whether it's fashion, print, swimwear, parts modeling, fitness, etc. Typically models will place 4-5 photos on a comp card, so only include your best photos. You need to show your versatility, and also keep your photos somewhat consistent. Basically, all the photos should show different poses, different types of outfits, and must be high quality. Include images where you are smiling and where you are not. Anytime a client or Photographer is looking to hire a model, you want to show them everything you're capable of on one card.

This may be easier said than done but it is possible. Just remember to stay within your niche, if you are a swimwear/bikini model you wouldn't have several food products displayed on your comp card. The alternative to a Comp Card that is mailed, is uploading your comp card to your online Profile (Hopefully you're online modeling profile is hosted on www.jinkers.net). :)
